When I wrote/compiled this with John, the best book ever on football “THE GAME”, even went to the U.S.A., explaining promotion and relegation, I had visions it would tell a million stories. And things would happen going forward to double that number.
Something just happened challenging everything we thought we had, and owned. Something just happened, taking us all by surprise.
How can we ever welcome back those that have said they are leaving our marriage? We can’t surrender six-of-our-best, have them play on Mars in the midweek (a televisual delight without promotion or relegation, franchise-style, otherworldly to our culture) and return to us at the weekend to merely dip their toe in our much greater challenge.
Ours is where it is at…it’s always been that way.
